Table of contents

Buying a boat is an investment that goes far beyond the initial price. Maintenance, mooring and equipment are factors worth keeping in mind before taking the leap. That is why having flexible financing options is a major help for many boaters. In this context, Motyvel, together with Sysfinance, offers a specialised alternative for those looking to buy boats with a clear financial plan.

Ready to discover how to make your next boat a reality with financing tailored to you and without complications?

What is Sysfinance and why does it work with Motyvel?

Sysfinance (Iberian Finance Services, S.L.) is a financial consultancy specialised in the nautical sector, offering leasing and credit solutions for boats, as well as insurance options and related services from legal, tax, technical and management perspectives.

The company also works with financial partners such as CGI Finance and SGB Finance for nautical financing products.

Motyvel and Sysfinance join forces

At Motyvel you will find the Finance your boat service, where we offer flexible financing: you choose the boat with us and, for the financial side, the proposal is arranged with Sysfinance.

What types of nautical financing are available with Sysfinance?

Sysfinance groups its boat financing solutions into two main options: nautical credit and nautical leasing (rental with an option to buy). Let’s look at each one in detail:

Nautical leasing: use of the boat and an option to buy

Sysfinance defines nautical leasing as a rental with an option to buy for a new boat, where you can use the vessel during the contract and, at the end, transfer it into your name for an amount agreed in advance.

Nautical credit: a financed purchase

With nautical credit, it is stated that it can be used for a new or pre-owned boat, and that the customer can finance the purchase with a fixed-rate product (according to its published terms).

What are the usual conditions for financing a boat with Sysfinance?

The specific terms depend on the product (credit or leasing), the applicant’s profile and the boat itself. Even so, there are several recurring parameters to consider.

Down payment and terms

Nautical leasing:

  • New boat
  • Minimum contribution of 20% (and a maximum of 50%)
  • Term of 4 to 15 years (depending on the amount)
  • Possibility to structure a higher final payment (in certain cases, between 30% and 15%, depending on the term and whether there are “partenaire” brands)

Nautical credit:

  • New or pre-owned boat, with the limit that the boat’s age plus the term does not exceed 35 years
  • Term between 4 and 15 years at a fixed rate
  • Minimum contribution of 20%
  • Possibility of a higher final payment (depending on the term and whether there are “partenaire” brands, between 30% and 15%)

As a general reference in nautical financing, it is common to find credit covering boats from around €10,000 up to approximately €1.5 million, with the possibility to finance up to 70% of the price (by providing a 30% deposit), at a fixed rate and with a maximum term of up to 15 years.

New or pre-owned boat: age and condition

For nautical credit, conditions are indicated such as:

  • New or pre-owned vessel
  • Age under 10 years, European Union certificate and good condition.

Private use and charter

For both credit and leasing, Sysfinance considers private use and charter companies.

In leasing, Sysfinance also mentions the possibility of financing boats for List 6 and List 7.

Tax residence and NIE

The company can finance residents and non-residents who hold an NIE, and it lists tax residencies it states it can currently finance: Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

What are the advantages of financing with Sysfinance compared to a traditional bank?

Here it is worth talking about the typical differences between specialist financing and a more general loan.

Specialisation in nautical financing

As a consultancy specialised in the nautical sector, its offering is built around products designed for boats and supported by partners such as CGI Finance and SGB Finance.

In practice, this usually means the credit/leasing structure accounts for variables specific to boats: age, use (leisure or charter), long terms and structures with a final payment, because these are common scenarios in nautical purchases.

Contract flexibility throughout the financing term

With Sysfinance you will find clear advantages in its leasing and credit, such as:

  • Deferral of one monthly payment until the end of the contract
  • Option to modify the instalment amount (in leasing)
  • Change of the payment date
  • A fixed-rate structure to keep the instalment stable

Assignment or transfer of the leasing

In leasing, there is the possibility to assign the financial lease agreement and transfer the financing to a third party.

Registration formalities and documentation

Sysfinance also handles registrations with the maritime registry through specialised agents, who travel to the relevant maritime authority and submit the documentation to register ownership and obtain the registration.

Steps to finance your boat with Sysfinance through Motyvel

Getting financing has never been so easy. Follow these steps:

1) Identify the boat you want to buy

This is the “fun” part. Make sure you are clear on the type of boat that suits you: sailing or motor, leisure use or charter, new or pre-owned, as well as its final price and overall condition. Defining these aspects well from the start helps set up financing that matches the reality of the purchase and avoids later changes that could delay the process. If you are not sure where to start, we recommend our article on how to find your ideal boat.

2) Run a financing simulation

You can access Sysfinance’s official simulation calculator, enter the details and get an estimate of instalments and total cost.

3) Complete the questionnaire and provide the information

To apply for credit, a questionnaire must be completed indicating the amount to be financed and attaching personal information to assess the application.

4) Creditworthiness assessment

Then, the applicant must demonstrate sufficient financial solvency and repayment capacity.

5) Formalisation and administrative procedures

Once the application is approved, registrations and maritime registry procedures are handled through specialised agents.

What happens if I want to sell the boat before the financing ends?

If the boat is financed through leasing, there is the possibility to assign the contract and transfer the financing to a third party, provided the financial institution approves the new holder. This option makes it possible to sell the boat before the term ends without having to cancel the contract early, while keeping the agreed conditions.

In the case of nautical credit, as it is a type of financing where the buyer is the owner from the outset, selling the boat usually involves settling the outstanding credit at the time of transfer, paying the remaining amount according to the terms set out in the agreement.

Your boat, your plan and well-structured financing

Financing a boat means aligning the boat, its use, the term and the instalment structure with a realistic plan. And that is where Sysfinance operates comfortably: nautical leasing and nautical credit designed for buying boats, with simulation tools on its website and clear terms.

To make your dream a reality and buy your next boat, count on Motyvel and Sysfinance. Together, we support you and advise you at every step.
